The president of the United States, Joe Biden, affirmed this Friday that “it is a sad day” for the Supreme Court and the country, after the court revoked the protections of the right to abortion.
“The health and lives of women in this country are now in danger,” the president said.

The president also charged this Friday against the three conservative judges of the Supreme Court of the country nominated by his predecessor, Donald Trump (2017-2021), of the ruling that eliminates the protection of the right to abortion.
“Three judges appointed by a president, Donald Trump, are at the center of this decision to upend the scales of justice and eliminate a fundamental right of women in this country,” Biden said, referring to Justice Neil M. Gorsuch. , Brett M. Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
And he emphasized that this is a sad day for rights in the United States: “The court has done what it has never done before: expressly remove a constitutional right that is so fundamental to so many Americans. It is a sad day for the court and for the country.”
This Friday, the very conservative Supreme Court of the United States put an end to a sentence that for almost half a century guaranteed the right of women to
abortion, but had never been accepted by the religious right.
This decision does not make terminations of pregnancy illegal, but rather takes the United States back to the situation that prevailed before the “Roe v. Wade” ruling of 1973, when each state was free to authorize them or not.
In a highly divided country, it is likely that half of the states, especially in the more conservative and religious South and Center, could ban them in the short term.
Biden affirmed that his government will defend the right to abortion and encouraged Americans to turn out to vote in the November elections to guarantee a majority in Congress to pass laws that protect it.
“We need more state leaders who protect this right at the local level … We have to elect officials who do that,” he said.
