Victim of a long illness with which he fought with enormous courage and bravery, the heart of Jesús Gómez Milanés (Abarán, 1945) stopped beating this week. A lover of History, he began in 1969, together with his brother Gerardo, to work in the agricultural world and it was a decade later when both founded the company Frutas Esther SA in Abarán, together with their partners from La Coruña, becoming over time of the time in one of the reference companies nationwide in the fruit and vegetable sector. Later, his brother Carmelo and Gerardo Gómez’s children joined the firm.
Jesús was married to María Pilar Fernández, with whom he had two children, José Ernesto and Pedro, and two granddaughters of the first of them. The life of this abaranero was always linked to two passions: his family and his work.
An austere, discreet and intelligent person, he always knew his place in the company, hence he has earned the affection of all. His relatives remembered yesterday that “Jesus went up to the company every day, where he stayed until the last minute of his life. He also adored the fields and farms, where he felt happy.
Other close associates recalled that “what characterized Jesus was his simplicity and honesty. He was friends with his employees, more than his boss. A slave to his work, he always sought peace and fled from fights and criticism, and gave his life for his brother Gerardo, whom he considered his father.
Paco Mira and his wife, Mari Carmen Hidalgo, explained that “Jesus has been a great person and one of the best friends we have ever had.” A good man has gone forever, who left his mark where he stepped.
