Before the start of the year 2023 an era will end for the Jeep brand, at least in Europe. The American house will stop selling off-road vehicles and SUVs with fully endothermic enginesand will focus on his favorite niche, that of plug-in hybrids. Hybrid Jeeps will be the only ones available on the market, and the brand will give even more importance to the acronym 4xe, which already accompanies almost the entire active price list. The latest addition to the 4xe range is the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
According to Auto Express reports, the abandonment to the pure thermal engine will take place during 2022, with the exception of Italy, where it will happen later. Only plug-in and mild hybrid will remain. The hybrid plan is complementary and anticipatory of Jeep’s next step towards the electric direction. In 2025, Jeep will also have a full electric range, with a presence in every segment of the SUV world.
CEO Christian Meunier explained that Jeep’s new electric SUVs will be ‘real’: “certainly not raised hatchbacksβ, He said, mimicking a market trend that actually leads to models that are not particularly exciting from an aesthetic point of view. On its side, Jeep has a design tradition and an off-road experience capable of protecting it from less than ideal stylistic choices.
We remind you that Jeep is very important for Stellantis both in the international field, with a very strong brand and with definitely well-established values, and for Italy, with dedicated production lines. The brand leads the ranking of plug-in hybrids and is among the leaders in the field of SUVs in general.
