Debut at the Paris Motor Show for new Jeep Avenger, the first fully electric model of the Stellantis brand which, after the digital preview a few weeks ago, is shown live for the first time at the Mondial de l’Auto, placing the American brand at the center of the French event. An important step for Jeep, which thus closes the circle in the world of electrification with a full electric model with a modern design, albeit in continuity with the other cars in the range.
The stylistic language in fact incorporates the stylistic features adopted on the most recent models and the distinctive features of the brand in general, starting with the seven-element front grille which in this case has no outlets since it is a battery-powered model. On its sides there are thin LED headlights that make the luminous signature particularly expressive. The choice of 18 “wheels and the presence of generous mudguards testifies to the true off-road spirit of this model which will be placed in segment B, just below the Renegade. Compared to the latter, in fact, it measures 16 cm less, with the length of 4.08 meters. At the rear we find the X-shaped headlights, another distinctive feature of the Jeep models that recalls that family feeling that places Avenger fully in the family of the American brand of Stellantis. Another feature common to the other models is the floating C-pillar, which at the same time lightens the car by lending itself to that low line that makes it athletic at the same time.
Entering the passenger compartment you immediately notice a modern interior with attention to detail, with the digital dashboard that is best expressed in the dashboard but also the suspended display of the infotainment system, a 10.25 “touch-screen (a starting from 7 “on the entry level). The ADAS equipment announced by Jeep is also extensive, with Avenger boasting the most modern level 2 autonomous driving systems including adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering but also Traffic Jam Assist.
The new Avenger will be based on a next-generation 400 V architecture with a powertrain consisting of a 115 kW electric motor, 156 hp, and 260 Nm of maximum torque and a 54 kWh battery capable of guaranteeing a range of up to 400 km in the combined WLTP cycle, which becomes 550 km in the urban cycle. As for charging methods and times, with a fast 100 kW direct current infrastructure, three minutes of charging are enough to provide a travel distance of 30 km. In addition, 24 minutes are enough to charge the batteries from 20 to 80%. By connecting instead to a wallbox or a public column, exploiting the 11 kW on-board charger it is possible to fill up with energy in 5 and a half hours. The new Jeep Avenger will be built at the Polish Tychy plant and will arrive on the road in 2023 with a more than ambitious goal, over 2 million units produced annually. We will see if Jeep Avenger will be able to keep its promises and substantially help the electrification process initiated by the American brand.
