The Malecón promenade and its gardens hosted this Saturday morning the seventh edition of the Save the Children-Colegio CEI popular race, a totally charitable and scoring event of the popular race circuit of the Region of Murcia Running Challenge 2022. Thus, the benefits will go earmarked for the Save the Children organization.
In the case of the competitive tests, the option was given to complete a lap of approximately 5 kilometers or two laps until covering 10 kilometers. The fastest in the long distance was the athlete from CA Nogalte-Hogar Puerto Lumbreras Javier Villegas, first in the Senior category with a time of 32.06. After him came Francisco Avilés, from Rajaos Runners Alcantarilla, first in the Master 35 category, with a time of 33.33. The third position went to the Master 50 from CA Cuatro Santos Cartagena José Antonio Meroño, who stopped the clock in 34.24.
On the women’s side, the victory went to the athlete from Costera Sur Pan Moreno Carmen María Hernández, first Master 35 finishing in 40.59; followed by the first Senior María Luisa Ortín, from CA Fondistas Yecla, with 42.23; and the first Master 50 Maki Ferrándiz, from Rajaos Runners Alcantarilla, with 42.57.
In the 5 kilometer test, in the men’s category, the CD 190 Milésimas athlete Ginés Martínez prevailed, with a time of 16.41; ahead of Javier Roca, from Colegio CEI (16.53); and Rafael Moya, from the Lions OCR (17.35). In the women’s event, the athlete from CA Puertas Lorca Mar Gómez (18.54) won, followed by María López, from CT Hellín (20.58), and Elvira García (22.24).
