José Javier Mármol Peñalver was named this Friday as the new president of the Submarine Electronics Joint Stock Company (SAES). He replaces Joaquín López, who was deputy secretary of the Socialist Party in the Region of Murcia, senator and regional deputy, and who has been at the head of this public company, a subsidiary of Navantia, since October 2020. The president of this public entity He has a salary of 119,000 euros.
Mármol was the chief of staff of the former mayor of Murcia José Antonio Serrano in the previous legislature. Graduated in Economic Sciences from the University of Murcia, he was also a deputy between 2008 and 2011, in which he was vice spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Economy and Finance Commission. In addition, he was a director of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Urban Development Company Urbamusa (2004-2007).
SAES is based in Cartagena and is part of the program that builds Navantia's S-80 submarine series. It has 35 years of history, in which they innovate and develop technology for strategic projects in the national defense sector, with international projection and dual application (for the defense, civil and environmental sectors). It is the only Spanish company specializing in underwater acoustics and multi-influence.
Likewise, SAES has a chair at the University of Murcia dedicated to promoting research, innovation and technology transfer. Something that especially motivates Diego Conesa's lieutenant.
