According to the quick count, Javier Lopez Casarincandidate of the Morena-PT-Green Party coalition, has obtained victory in the election for Mayor Álvaro Obregón, with more than 47 percent of the votes, in which he competed against Lia Lemonfrom the PAN, PRI and PRD alliance.
This result was celebrated by the left-wing standard-bearer, who highlighted the high turnout of voters, close to 70 percent, turning the day into a true democratic party.
Lopez Casarin expressed her satisfaction not only with her victory, but also with the significant advances in women’s participation in politics, highlighting the historic election of Claudia Sheinbaum as the first President of Mexico and the victory of Clara Brugada as Head of Government of Mexico City.
“Friends from Obregon, I want to share with you the emotion I feel for the victory of Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, our first President in more than 200 years of independent life in the country. Likewise, for the victory of Clara Brugada, our next Head of Government,” he said.
In an emotional speech, López Casarín promised to work hand in hand with the residents of Álvaro Obregón to build a prosperous future for the mayor’s office.
“I want to ask you to leave our differences behind and build together a future project for Álvaro Obregón, our common home. We can all contribute, in a purposeful way, to improve our community,” he stressed.
During the press conference, Clara Brugada, the next Head of Government of Mexico City, recognized the importance of López Casarín’s victory and highlighted his ability to lead the transformation of Álvaro Obregón, a district that for the last three years was under the administration of PRIAN.
“I want to recognize Javier López Casarín, our next Mayor in Álvaro Obregón, who is having a resounding and clear victory. Thank you very much, I know that there will be great work for the people of Álvaro Obregón,” commented Brugada.
López Casarín also called for harmony and teamwork, inviting his opponents to leave the campaigns behind and focus on the well-being of the citizens.
“Once the electoral campaign is over, and knowing the results of the vote that show the formidable citizen expression, I invite my opponents to leave behind the campaigns, where the accusations were disproportionate and on many occasions crossed limits.
We are all interested in achieving the well-being of the residents of Álvaro Obregón, let’s work with them and for them,” he emphasized.
The next mayor highlighted the fundamental role of family in his political career and thanked his wife and children for their unconditional support.
“Finally, I want to thank Marisa, my wife, who with her love has supported me in each and every one of the projects that as a family we have undertaken. Our children are the main driving force of our lives, for you, for them and for everyone our neighbors in Álvaro Obregón, I will work to build a better Mayor’s Office,” concluded López Casarín.
