Japan was afraid of a supply failure when the sky was closed for Russian aircraft, the country’s authorities expressed fear that after such a decision, difficulties with the import of goods could begin, reports RIA News with reference to the NHK TV channel.
“The geographical position of Japan is different from the US and European countries. If Russia takes retaliatory measures, this will have a big impact on the supply of goods, ”said a source in the government of the state.
The TV channel notes the opinion in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party that Tokyo should “align the pace” with Europe, which banned Russian airlines from flying in its airspace, and also call on other Asian countries to do the same.
Earlier in February, a number of European countries closed their airspace to Russian aircraft amid a special operation in Ukraine. As a mirror measure, Russia has restricted flights for airlines from 36 countries.
