Japan McDonald’s restaurants say they will have to regulate the sale of french fries due to a shortage of potatoes.

Whereas the logistical problems caused by the corona pandemic and the extensive floods in Canada have significantly reduced the number of potatoes entering Japan, says the British newspaper The Guardian, among others.

McDonald’s restaurants in Japan, only small Frenchmen can be ordered for a week from Friday. By regulating, the chain seeks to avoid the French running out altogether.

“Extensive flooding near the port of Vancouver and the global supply chain collapse caused by the pandemic have led to delays in potato deliveries,” according to The Guardian, the Japanese fast food chain.

Japan has the largest market in Asia for American fast food. There are over 3,000 McDonald’s restaurants in the country.
