Japan criticized Russia in the context of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Japan criticized the Russian Federation in the UN Security Council, recalling the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Japan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Mitsuko Shino, at a meeting of the organization's Security Council on Ukraine, in the context of statements about Tokyo's unwillingness to come to terms with the nuclear threat allegedly emanating from Russia, recalled the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. However, she did not specify that they were carried out by the United States, reports RIA News.

“We would like to reaffirm Japan’s clear position regarding the nuclear rhetoric repeatedly voiced by Russia,” the diplomat said.

She clarified that Japan is the only state against which nuclear weapons were used, adding that “the disaster of Hiroshima and Nagasaki should never be repeated.” However, in her speech, Sino did not consider it necessary to indicate that the bombing of cities was carried out by the United States.

Earlier, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki a nuclear massacre, keeping silent about the guilt of the United States, which dropped atomic bombs on the cities in 1945.
