The Motegi weekend opened with the great performance of Ivan Ortolaauthor of the fastest lap but above all of new record of the Japanese route. The Spaniard, who stopped the clock on the1:55.550he trailed his compatriot by a tenth and a half Angel Piqueras (fell in the final stages of the Test), with the virtual front row completed by the championship leader David Alonso.
At least judging by the times set in Japan on this first day, the Colombian seems increasingly closer to winning the world title, both due to the distance that separates him from Daniel Holgado and due to the difficulties highlighted by the latter, who only concluded the tests at 13th place. Good performance from the home riders, in particular for Ryusei Yamanaka and Tatsuki Suzuki, 4th and 5th respectively and who occupy the virtual second row ahead of Joel Kelso.
The Italian riders, however, were further away: among these, Matteo Bertelle set the best time, six tenths behind Ortolà, thus completing the top-10. Among the top fourteen also Filippo Farioli and Luca Lunetta, 12th and 14th.
