James Rodríguez is having a relaunch in Europe with Olympiacos of Greece, after his opaque stint at Al Rayyan in Qatar. Despite the injuries, which have deprived him of playing important games, the ’10’ has established himself as the main figure of the Hellenic team.

After having a competitive rhythm in recent months, Rodríguez was called up by Argentine coach Néstor Lorenzo for this month’s friendlies against South Korea and Japan. And his call has generated controversy in a certain sector of the sports press.

In the face of so many accusations, the Argentine coach Julio César Falcioni, who directed him in Banfield before the midfielder made the leap to Europe, spoke out.

The DT has a clear opinion: “You have to protect it”.

‘James has his quality intact’

James Rodríguez scored the one for Colombia against Venezuela, at the Cachamay stadium.

“When he was 17 years old, I said that he had no ceiling, because of his quality, that by perseverance he would make a difference. Because of his work, accompanied by his mother at the beginning, he did a great job at Banfield and made a very important journey in Europe”declared Falcioni in a chat with ‘ESPN’.

Then, the former Argentine player added with a tone that confirmed his appreciation for the player: “James has his quality intact and you have to take advantage of it in the best way and protect it”.

“He is a man of the National Team, due to his quality and experience,” he commented.

“If he is well, he will do a lot of good for the Colombian National Team,” Falcioni concluded.
