Jamaica, the world and Olympic record holders, suffered a major shock after failing to qualify for the men’s 4x100m relay final at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Jamaican team, winners of gold at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics, came fourth in the second heat, which was much slower than the first, and the result was not enough to secure one of the fastest losers spots. The Jamaican team, which included Paris 100m silver medalist Keishan Thompson, failed to pass the baton in the second and third relays, causing them to lose momentum.
The US team qualified easily after recording the fastest time, finishing the race in 47.37 seconds.
Noah Lyles, who won the 100m gold in the heats, was rested before the 200m final, but will definitely be in the team for the final.
