F2: still to be decided
Unlike Formula 3, which has already completed its season at the beginning of September in Monza and which is already getting to know its new drivers for the next championship, the cadet category of Formula 1 has not yet decided its champion for 2024. While the Circus continues, Formula 2 will return to the track between the end of November and the beginning of December for the last two tests in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, but the names of the very first drivers who will make up the 2025 starting grid have already been announced.
The first renewal
After the promotions of Leonardo Fornaroli, fresh F3 champion, and Arvin Lindblad from the same category, the team DAMS instead he communicated the renewal of contract with the American Jack Crawford. Raised in the Red Bull Junior Team, the 19-year-old from Charlotte will continue his experience in Formula 2 after a victory and four other podiums obtained so far during this championship.
Furthermore, Crawford still holds the role of third driver in Formula 1 with Aston Martin and in Formula E with Andretti Global: “I am really happy to continue with DAMS Lucas Oil for 2025, after a positive seasona – he declared after the official announcement of the French team – we still have two rounds to go, we are aiming for a top five finish and I hope that next year we can take a further step forward to regularly be among the first. I see how determined everyone in the team is to compete higher up the grid, which is why I decided to stay for a second year. Motor racing is a team sport and not an individual one, so we will improve together and hopefully we can see the fruits on the track next year.”
To this comment was added that of the former F1 driver Charles Picnow owner of the transalpine team: “We are excited to retain Jak for the 2025 season after a year in which he scored both high and low. Throughout the season, Jak he kept his head down and worked hard, which shows his great attitude. It is a pleasure to continue with Jak for a second season and our aim is to consistently compete for the top of the grid. Jak has demonstrated his ability this year, finishing on the podium five times and achieving several strong performances.”
