There Ferrari back to the office again, to pursue a dream called the World Championship and a team that, in the package formed with Max Verstappen, is doing little or nothing wrong. The challenge at Red Bull resumes from Silverstone, where last year the Rossa touched the miracle with Charles Leclerc despite a car absolutely inferior to the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, who later won the Grand Prix. Ferrari can approach this weekend, therefore, with optimism, also because the fast corners of the British track could benefit the Rossa more than Red Bull, which will however bring some updates.
Not only the philosophy of the machine will be fundamental, but also the management of the tires and the strategies on the track, areas in which Ferrari struggled several times in 2022 against rivals. The race strategist speaks about these aspects Ravin Jain: “Silverstone is an extremely technical and fast track, characterized above all by very fast changes of direction, such as the famous Maggotts-Becketts-Chapel sequence, one of the fastest in the entire World Championship. The many fast corners and the lack of slow sections make this one very demanding track for the tires and low stress on the brakes. The circuit was built on rather flat ground but is located in the middle of the English countryside, and is therefore very exposed to drafts. For this reason, when you come to compete here, you can’t never underestimate the role of the wind, which can make cars more complicated to drive. The strategic picture in a Formula 1 race at Silverstone is very complex. Due to the characteristics of the track, Pirelli carries C1, C2 and C3. Nonetheless, we expect the decay can play an important role in the economy of the race by determining the number of stops that will take place on Sunday. The entrance to the pit lane is very special, because it allows you to skip the last corners, greatly limiting the loss of time in the lane, and the two DRS zones favor overtaking: also for this reason it is likely to expect different strategic scenarios in the running. To this we must add the British summer, which often offers capricious and changing weather conditions, to the point that it is not unusual to see an alternation of sun, rain and other atmospheric phenomena in the same afternoon. Given this complex picture, teams and strategists must always be ready to react to what the gods of rain they can decide to download on us“.
