The match between Jaguares and Medellinscheduled for this Saturday (8:15 pm) on date 19 of the Betplay League, would be postponed due to the public order situation in the region.
The Association of Professional Soccer Players, Acolfutpro, asked Dimayor this Friday that the match be postponed, at the request of the Independiente Medellín footballers themselves. In addition, the Antioquia club announced that it will not travel to play the game.
Medellín issued a statement indicating that for security reasons it is canceling its trip to Montería.
“The People’s Team informs the fans, the media and public opinion in general, that after evaluating the social and public order situation in the department of Córdoba, it has made the institutional decision not to travel to the city of Montería,” says the DIM in a statement.
Acolfutpro statement
Acolfutpro, in a statement, expresses the concern of the players for the difficult situation that arises.
“We have received from our affiliates who make up the professional staff of the
Deportivo Independiente Medellín, your concern about the situation that is
presented in Montería, Córdoba, due to the threats and attacks to which
faces the civilian population in this city as a result of the strike
armed, which restricts free mobility, which puts at serious risk
the safety and integrity of the footballers and the coaching staff, so that they
can carry out the match against Jaguares de Córdoba normally,
corresponding to date 19 of the BetPlay Dimayor League, scheduled for
this Saturday, at 8:15 pm, at the Jaraguay-Municipal de Montería stadium”.
“Proof of this anomalous situation that arises are the recent
Statements by Mr. Carlos Ordosgostia, Mayor of Montería,
stating that they are looking for the possibility of advancing the game to
3:30 pm, which shows that the public order situation does not offer
full guarantees for the meeting”.
“To this is added that both the airport and the stadium are outside
of the urban area, which forces the delegations to mobilize in the area of
high risk where terrorist attacks and acts have already been carried out against
civilians”.
Given these arguments, Acolfuptro asks Dimayor to reschedule the match: “We request that DIMAYOR postpone the scheduled match until conditions and guarantees exist to carry out the event without putting the
footballers, coaching staff and other workers who make it possible for the show to take place and the fans who will not be able to be present at the match either”.
