It is young people who are asking for concrete actions in favor of sustainable mobility. This is confirmed by the data from the 9th National Observatory on Sustainable Lifestyle, a research conducted annually by LifeGate on a representative sample of 800 cases of the adult Italian population. According to these data, 77% of young people between 18 and 24 would like to see greater incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles.
In response to this request, Jaguar Land Rover has decided to renew its activity to inform new generations and dispel the false myths that slow down the transition towards a more sustainable future. This commitment takes shape through the “E-education 3.0” project, created in collaboration with LifeGate, a point of reference in Italy for over twenty years for sustainable development.
The project includes a series of meetings in secondary schools, called “Education 3.0”, which aim to explore with students the issues related to the transition towards electric mobility and smart cities. The goal is to make young spokespersons aware of the change necessary for a sustainable future. During these meetings, teachers will also be involved, who will help to contextualise the environmental problem, and a selected number of Jaguar Land Rover Italia employees, who as “tutors for a day” will interact with the children by answering their questions on the conversion to electric.
The over 400 participants in these meetings will be asked, as happened in last year's edition, to create projects based on the proposed themes. The most deserving ideas will have the opportunity to participate in a series of special activities as part of the Misano E-prix, which will be held on 12 and 13 April, and the London one, scheduled for 20 and 21 July. These are championships dedicated to electric cars, in which the Jaguar TCS Racing Team has always been committed to innovation and the development of new technologies aimed at improving performance, technologies that will also support the cars of the future.
This Jaguar Land Rover project is a concrete example of how an automotive company can actively engage in promoting sustainable mobility and involve young people in this process. Through information, education and direct interaction with students, we try to create awareness and interest in green mobility solutions, such as the use of electric vehicles, which can help reduce environmental impact and make our cities more liveable.
“For Jaguar Land Rover, culture and awareness, combined with the breaking down of false myths, can and must change the vision on mobility, to help us better face the challenge that awaits, especially the younger generations, towards the electric transition ” – declares Marco Santucci, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Italia, who continues: “We want sustainable disclosure to be the protagonist of the change underway: a challenge that is not only environmental, but also social. With the E-education 2.0 project, we will take young students on a journey into the present and future of mobility, making them protagonists of the transition to electric, to become themselves an effective sounding board on these issues, towards their families and friends”.
