It will be exactly seventy years since next year Jaguar C-Type he made the most of his pioneering disc brakes to be able to dominate the 24 Hours of Le Mans by finishing in first, second, fourth and ninth place and breaking the average lap speed record. It was 1953, but despite the fact that seven decades have passed, the winning history of this model is still very topical. Jaguar itself wanted to pay homage to this anniversary with the launch of the new C-Type Continuation 70-Edition, a special series of the British sports car produced in only two copies.
The British brand has announced that the production of the 70-Editions will take place in the plant of the Classic Works division in Coventry: for the construction of these two jewels, each vehicle requires 3,000 hours of specialist labor. Each 70-Edition will be sold at a price of 1.5 million pounds, the equivalent of about 1.7 million euros, and was set up with evocative finishes and colors, a silver enamel badge handmade by the Deakin & Francis, “70 Edition” stitching and embroidery and painted round inserts bearing the race number 70. The two cars differ between them: while the former has been finished with an exclusive Verbier Silver coloring with Cranberry Red leather interior, the latter is a tribute to the victorious C-type XKC051 and has been finished with the British Racing Green colors of the Works Team and with Suede Green leather interior.
To unite the two models, however, there is a specific housing for the key and an exclusive plaque on the dashboard, also made by the jeweler. Deakin & Francis, company that boasts over 230 years of activity in the sector and represents the oldest manufactured jewelery in England. The engine that drives this special edition of the C-Type Continuation, hidden under the car body made of aluminum, is a 3.4 liters with six cylinders in line which took nine months to build: the result of this hard work materializes in a unit equipped with meticulously refurbished triple Weber 40DCO3 carburettors, which produce a total of 220 hp of power.
