Jac Orie, skating coach at Team Jumbo-Visma, is already looking forward to next winter after the season finale at the World Championship distances in Heerenveen. The 55-year-old Hagenaar thinks he can compete with the American super talent Jordan Stolz, who won the most world titles in Heerenveen.
The only 18-year-old Stolz won gold in his debut at the distance championships in the 500, 1000 and 1500 meters, a performance that had not been seen before. “Stolz is a formidable opponent that we will have to deal with in the coming years,” Orie stated in an interview on the Jumbo-Visma website. “He has a lot of potential and is the man to beat at the moment. I am firmly convinced that we can take on that battle, although it will not be easy.”
Orie himself was also satisfied with the performance of his own team in Heerenveen. “We did really well as a team. We have won nine medals, three gold, four silver and two bronze. I can only be very proud of that”, said Orie, who indicated that he was already working on the next season.
,,No matter how well it all went this season, there are always things that you think: that should be better. We are all going to evaluate that and we have to learn from it. No, we are certainly not resting on our laurels. We have to move forward and we will do everything we can to be even better next year.”
