After a blackout that brought down all Itaú’s digital channels this Thursday (3), the bank operates without any surprises this Friday morning (4). So far, there are no complaints from users on social media, or on Downdetector, a site that monitors errors and notifications from people who are unable to access some type of service.
Problems with Itaú’s app and internet banking began between late morning and early afternoon yesterday, and the system was fully resumed only at 9 pm. At 5:39 pm, the bank made a post on Twitter indicating that services had been re-established, however many people commented that they could not access the application and those who entered saw the balance much lower than it should, or with more numbers than usual.

In response, Itaú advised these people to update the app with the latest version and wait for the system to be fully re-established, which was done gradually.
“Itaú Unibanco informs that the statements and balances of the current accounts of all its clients are updated, with all amounts fully recomposed. Access via digital channels is being gradually released. The source of the problem was related to a delay in data processing, which generated the need for reprocessing. Therefore, the cause was unrelated to any external events. Itaú regrets the inconvenience,” the bank said in an official note at 8:30 pm.
Procon on Itaú’s tail
The Procons of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná notified Itaú to provide clarification on the statements in the system. The idea is to understand what measures were taken to solve the problems and receive more information about the blackout in the bank’s digital systems.
Procon do Rio gave Itaú a period of five days to provide clarifications, while Paraná gave 10 working days and São Paulo awaits information until Monday (7).
The supervisory bodies guide users not to withdraw undue amounts that appear in the system, that is, to keep any money that does not belong to people. The idea is to avoid any kind of problem with the bank recovering that money later.
Whoever looks for Itaú in the service channels and does not receive a response, the orientation is to document all these conversations and activate the Procon of their state, which may fine the bank and fight for the reimbursement of debts caused by failures.
