Silvio Berlusconi has apparently been taken to a hospital. Italy’s former prime minister is said to be complaining of shortness of breath. He is in the intensive care unit.
Milan – Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been hospitalized, according to media reports. The Adnkronos news agency reported on Wednesday that the 86-year-old MP was being treated in intensive care at the San Raffaele clinic in Milan. The Ansa news agency also reported his admission to a hospital. According to the Italian newspaper La Republica he was admitted with shortness of breath. The situation is stable.
Berlusconi was only released from the hospital on Thursday
There was initially no official confirmation from the family of the politician and media entrepreneur or the Forza Italia party. According to the reports, Berlusconi is being treated for cardiovascular problems. He was only released last Thursday after a four-day stay in that clinic – officially for routine examinations.
Berlusconi has dominated public life in Italy for decades in a variety of roles – not just as a politician, but also as a media mogul and longtime owner of football club AC Milan. He was prime minister three times between 1994 and 2011. The Forza Italia party, which he founded and leads, has been part of the governing coalition led by ultra-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni since October. Most recently, he kept complaining about health problems. (as/dpa/AFP)
