The Milan Prosecutor’s Office requested this Wednesday six years in prison and the seizure of 10.8 million euros (about 11.53 million dollars) for former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi for a crime of bribery in judicial acts.

The request has been made in framework of the “Ruby Ter” processthat is about clarify whether the tycoon bribed the witnesses of other processes to lie about what happened at his parties. The ruling is not expected to come before September, according to Italian media.

The Prosecutor’s Office has also requested five years in prison for the young Moroccan Karima El Mahroug, nicknamed “Ruby” and with whom the politician had sexual relations when she was a minor, for perjury and bribery in judicial acts, and also weighs against her a confiscation request of 5 million euros.
In addition, another 26 sentences have been requested, including twenty girls, former guests at Berlusconi’s parties, whose silence was allegedly bought by the former prime minister.
The leader of the far-right Italian League party, Matteo Salvini, criticized “the fact that there is another trial and another request for Berlusconi’s conviction” and affirmed that “Justice will change” if the referendum on the reform of the Justice on June 12 goes ahead, which Among other things, it abolishes the current ban on bringing charges against those sentenced to more than two years in prison.
The “Ruby Ter” process is carried out by the Court of Milan (north) but, due to its extensive powers, it has been broken down into different branches in Turin, Pescara, Treviso, Monza and Siena.
In the latter, the court acquitted Berlusconi and the pianist at his parties, Danilo Mariani, last October, considering that it was not proven that he bribed the musician so that he would not testify against him.
In 2015 Berlusconi was acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court in the “Ruby” case and later faced the “Ruby bis” in which some of his collaborators were convicted.
The three-time prime minister, who overcame COVID-19 in 2020 and has been hospitalized on different occasions in recent months for various problems, including heart problems, has not attended the trial hearings alleging health problems.
