On Monday, Italy announced the abolition of the requirement to show proof of vaccination against the Corona virus, recovery from it, or a test before entering the country.
And the Ministry of Health reported that the requirement to show a so-called “green permit” to enter Italy “will not be extended” when it expires on May 31.
Italy was the first European country to have a large-scale outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in early 2020 and has imposed among the most stringent restrictions, including requiring all workers to obtain a green permit.
With the decrease in infections and the vaccination of the majority of the population, most of the procedures were lifted, except for the mandatory wearing of masks in public transport and schools.
Italy today recorded 7,537 new infections and 62 deaths, bringing the total death toll from the virus to 166,631, according to Ministry of Health figures.
