ROME (Reuters) – An Italian man showed up at a vaccination center wearing a fake silicone arm, hoping to trick a nurse into getting the dose to obtain a Covid-19 health certificate, local officials said at the hospital. Friday.
The man, who is in his 50s, was reported to police in the northern city of Biella, regional governor Alberto Cirio said, adding that the silicone in the prosthesis on his arm looked “very similar” to real skin.
“(However) the color and the touch raised the distrust of the health professional, who asked her to show her entire arm,” said Cirio.
“The incident would be almost ridiculous were it not for the fact that we are talking about an extremely serious act,” Cirio said in a Facebook post.
Ansa news agency said the man, who was not identified, worked in the health area and had been suspended from work for refusing to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
The dose is mandatory for all healthcare professionals in Italy.
