Hazelight will therefore abandon the name It Takes Two.
It Takes Two, the latest game of Josef Fares was hit with a trademark complaint from Grand Theft Auto’s parent company Take-Two. It is revealed that the acclaimed cooperative puzzle was hit with a trademark infringement complaint shortly after it was released earlier this year. Records show that developer Hazelight was later forced to give up ownership of the name.
The development team hasn’t commented on how this will affect Hazelight’s ability to currently sell or market It Takes Two, plans to rename the game, or ideas for a potential sequel.
It Takes Two is the latest victim of a flurry of trademark and copyright complaints from publisher Take-Two and just one of dozens of complaints issued this year against a wide range of companies and products. US Patent Office documents show Take-Two disputes numerous names with links to the words “rockstar”, “social club”, “mafia” and more.
We know how Take-Two has also denounced several modders and removed many mods in GTA V, with the community becoming more and more frustrated by these choices.
