In Q2 2022, Netflix lost just under a million subscribers. Izvestia found out what moves Netflix has already made and will make to stop the audience decline.
Thus, Netflix managers began to take anti-crisis measures, which, even before the publication of the regular report, made it clear how seriously the company intends to change its business.
The first and foremost measure, especially in the eyes of the world, is the triumphant release of the fourth season of Stranger Things. According to the latest figures from Netflix, the number of hours watched by the new show has already exceeded 1.3 billion.
The second measure, directly related to the first, is the creation of large franchises. Like Harry Potter and Star Wars.
The third measure is new subscription options. The platform tries to hit in two directions at once. On the one hand, reduce the price for those who are willing to watch ads. On the other hand, to raise the price for family accounts, not without reason, assuming that they are not used by families, but by a variety of people pooled together.
Izvestia turned to the largest Russian online cinemas with a request to comment on Netflix’s marketing decisions and predict further changes in the global market. Every single platform refused to speak on the subject.
