The Japanese brand Isuzu has signed a partnership with Futuroscope for a breathtaking attraction: “Tornado hunters“. It is a circular theater produced by Dynamic Attractions, which has already worked for the largest companies in the world, such as Disney or Universal. And with its pick-ups, the Japanese carmaker is an integral part of the fun.
Visitors sit on one dynamic rotating platform that can tilt in all directions. The 120 seats can thus rotate up to 30 km / h to become part of the action. The device can accommodate 1000 people per hour, including children, (minimum height of 1.05 meters) accompanied by an adult. Those who participate have a 360 ° view into the heart of the largest LED screen in Europe, with a height of 8 meters. This impressive immersive adventure is not limited to this screen, since two parts of it scroll to reveal scenes with very real sets in which the actors are also struggling with a Isuzu D-Max pickupwhich at some point becomes the main element that viewers can follow throughout the story.
The car belongs to a meteorologist and a tornado hunter who monitor the formation of cyclones. The climax of the show occurs when a huge category 4 or 5 tornado is detected near the department of Vienne, 10 km north of Poitiers, where the Futuroscope park is located. To bring the cyclone to life, many special effects are put in place, such as a powerful wind and pyrotechnic effects.
Philippe Vallier, commercial director and network manager of the Japanese pick-up manufacturer Isuzu for the French market, is thrilled by this extraordinary attraction: “In the show, to keep the tornado coming to Poitiers under control, you need a pickup worthy of the name, solid, sturdy, then a D-Max, with specific equipment, to better face this storm. In addition to the attraction, we also have a second vehicle positioned on the outer path. The images explain to viewers how a tornado is formed and how we manage to dispel these phenomena. Along the way you can also meet an area set up as an “Isuzu Service”, to better prepare the pick-up that has to face the tornado“.
“Tornado hunters”Remains the largest investment (21 million euros) in the history of the Futuroscope park, which has seen an extraordinary participation of over 50 million spectators since its opening, back in 1987.
