The Israeli channel Channel 13 News showed a fighter from the Star Wars movie and passed it off as a plane crashed in Ukraine. Entrepreneur Eli David drew attention to this in Twitter.
David noticed that the journalists of the TV channel used a video from Star Wars in their report about the Russian special operation in Ukraine. “So trust the media,” he said. The video used in the Channel 13 News report is a clip from an amateur video by the Polish Star Wars Artistic Team published in 2014.
“How can people believe fake news? There are people who saw it, but still think it’s real”, “I thought I’ve seen everything in this life, but this is a new level of stupidity,” users wrote in the comments under the post. Many found the report amusing, while others condemned the journalists for being unprofessional. “How can people do their job like that?” — said one of the users.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of an operation to protect Donbass. According to the head of state, its goal is to protect people who are subjected to bullying and genocide. After that, Roskomnadzor called on the media to use only official sources of information and threatened to block them for spreading fakes.
