The Israeli army announced yesterday that it had bombed 120 additional Hezbollah targets in various Lebanese regions, while the party continues to fire its missiles at Israel.
The army said that it “launched large-scale strikes targeting infrastructure and large headquarters used by various Hezbollah units,” explaining that it bombed about 120 targets in southern Lebanon and inside Lebanese territory. The Israeli army also announced that it intercepted “two marches” and monitored 35 missiles fired from Lebanon at areas in the north, noting that 10 of them were intercepted and the rest fell in an open area.
The army said in a statement: “Alert sirens were activated in large parts of the Western Galilee region, where about 10 launches were monitored from Lebanese territory, and they were intercepted.”
He added, “Alert sirens also sounded in the Gulf region, where about 25 launches were monitored from Lebanese territory that fell in an open area.” According to Israeli Army Radio, two “drones” were also intercepted over territorial waters, launching from Lebanon.
She indicated that warning sirens were activated in large areas in the north, including Akko and areas in the Western Galilee in northern Israel.
In turn, Hezbollah announced the assassination of the leader, Nabil Qaouk, following an Israeli raid in the Chiyah area in the southern suburb of Beirut. Yesterday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 70 people were killed and 80 others were injured in Israeli raids.
In addition, yesterday, the Lebanese Army called on the Lebanese to preserve national unity and not undermine civil peace.
The Army Command said in a statement carried by the official Lebanese News Agency: “Following the Israeli enemy’s continued attacks, the Army Command calls on the Lebanese to preserve national unity and not be drawn into actions that may harm civil peace.”
She described the current stage as “dangerous and delicate in our nation’s history.” She continued: “The army leadership continues to take the necessary security measures and carry out its national duty to preserve civil peace.” It also called on “the Lebanese to respond to these measures, and to work in accordance with national unity, which remains the only guarantee for Lebanon.”
The Minister of Information in the Lebanese caretaker government, Ziad Al-Makari, said yesterday, after a cabinet meeting, that diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire with Israel are still continuing.
Since September 23, the Israeli army has launched the most violent and widespread attack on Lebanon since the confrontations with Hezbollah began about a year ago, resulting, as of yesterday, in approximately 870 deaths and more than 2,580 wounded.
