For Russian tourists, Israel is expected to open on December 1. Until that date, the Middle Eastern state intends to recognize the Sputnik V vaccine. The Minister of Tourism of Israel Yoel Razvozov, who arrived in Russia on a visit, said this in an interview with Izvestia.
The minister specified that only those who received the second dose of Sputnik V no more than six months ago will be able to enter Israel. This is due to the fact, noted Yoel Razvozov, that the Israeli authorities observed the following picture: among citizens who were vaccinated with two doses of the vaccine, after five to six months antibodies had already begun to decline, and then the fourth wave of the pandemic began in Israel.
“I drew up a roadmap with a clear timetable for when we must make a decision (according to Sputnik V – Izvestia). Since on December 1 we want to allow your tourists to enter, I certainly hope that at least five days before that – November 24-25 – we will already have a clear plan. We already have experience, when everything seemed to have been worked out until November 15, but in recent days we suddenly saw that there were legal and technical problems. We urgently flew here at the request of the Prime Minister (Israel – Izvestia) in order to develop a comfortable mechanism for the entry of tourists from Russia to Israel, ”the politician said.
But as for Sputnik Light, then, as noted by Yoel Razvozov, “this is quite new information for us”. Sputnik Light has not been submitted for registration with WHO. And Sputnik V, the minister stressed, may be recognized by the WHO in the near future, and this particular vaccine is now being discussed in the Israeli Ministry of Health.
