Yesterday, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation renewed its call to all countries of the world to announce their recognition of the State of Palestine, especially after the decision of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to recognize the State of Palestine.
The Saudi News Agency “SPA” stated that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, based in the Saudi city of Jeddah, “welcomed the decision of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to recognize the State of Palestine,” considering that “this important step is consistent with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, and contributes to enabling the Palestinian people to Exercising his legitimate rights, including his right to return, self-determination, and embodying the establishment of an independent State of Palestine on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
The organization, whose membership includes 57 Muslim countries, renewed its call on all countries of the world that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take the initiative to announce their recognition of the State of Palestine as soon as possible, in support of international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region on the basis of the vision of the two-state solution and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago joined Jamaica and Barbados in officially recognizing the State of Palestine, in a decision taken by the government during the Cabinet meeting in Trinidad, the day before yesterday.
