new Delhi: The Union Home Ministry said that the talk of some people from different states, including southern states, to join the Islamic State (IS) has come before the central and state security agencies. In this regard, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered 17 cases.
The Home Ministry said that the NIA has registered 17 cases related to the presence of IS in Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and arrested 122 accused persons.

IS most active in these states
Explain that in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said that the NIA investigation has revealed that the Islamic State (IS) is in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Most active in Rajasthan, Bihar, UP, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs said in a written reply that central and government security agencies have come to know about some people from different states including South India joining IS. He told that ‘IS is using various internet based social media platforms to spread its ideology. In view of this, affiliated agencies are constantly monitoring cyberspace and action is taken as per law.
The minister said that the government has information about how these people are being provided finance and how they are getting help from abroad to conduct their terrorist activities.
G Kishan Reddy told that the Central Government has given Islamic State, Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Daesh, Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP), ISIS Wilayat Khorasan, Islamic State of Iraq and Sham-Khorasan Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, it has been declared a terrorist organization by including it in the first schedule.
