Iron Dames arrives in FRECA with Doriane Pin and Marta Garcia

The European Formula Regional Championship by Alpine continues to expand and welcomes another important name, that of the Iron Dames team.

To date, the series has seen 145 drivers from all over the world compete, establishing itself as one of the reference championships on the path to Formula 1, the pinnacle of the pyramid that goes from karts to the top open-wheel series. Over the years, many high-level names have passed through this category, even in its previous configuration in which it was called European F3.

A solid reality that has also attracted an important team like the Iron Dames, a team already known in the Endurance world, which one month before the start of the season decided to enter the FRECA also in light of Arden's recent withdrawal Motorsports.

An all-female arrival in the paddock, as per team tradition. At the helm of the team's first season in the FRECA there will, in fact, be two women, but above all two high-level drivers: the French Doriane Pin and the Spanish Marta Garcia.

At 20 years old, Doriane Pin joined the Mercedes-AMG F1 Junior Program and participates in the 2024 F1 Academy championship, where she has already demonstrated that she can dominate the series in the inaugural round in Saudi Arabia. In her debut in Jeddah, the Frenchwoman obtained two pole positions and a victory, and the move to FRECA represents a further step in her career in single-seaters. Doriane also competes in several categories, including endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans again with Iron Dames. Last year, at Sebring she was also able to take her first podium in the WEC with an LMP2.

Marta Garcia, 23, joined the Iron Dames team to complete the all-female team's FRECA program. Garcia was the inaugural F1 Academy champion, but she is not taking part in the F1 support championship this year.

Over the years, the FRECA has seen eight women compete, including Sophia Floersch, with a number increasing thanks to the entry of Iron Dames, who will thus be able to represent a bridge for women in the preparatory categories.

Furthermore, this year the possibility has been opened up for teams to field a fourth car for the top three in the 2023 Formula 1 Academy.
