The leftist Sinn Fein has won the elections again, but without enough margin to govern
Ireland’s main opposition party, Sinn Fein, appeared on course to win Friday’s general election by a narrow margin, but its two main centre-right rivals were likely to win. They will have enough seats to govern again without himaccording to exit polls.
These data place to the leftist Sinn Fein with 21.1%; to the centre-right Fine Gael of the prime minister, Simon Harris, with 21.0% and its related coalition partner Fianna Fail with 19.5%.
Fine Gael and Fianna Fail committed before the election to try to form a coalition without Sinn Feinjust as they did after the 2020 general elections, when the left-wing party also narrowly won the popular vote.
