Iran’s New Foreign Minister Araghchi Plans to Hold Talks with Lavrov at UNGA
Iran’s new Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed hope for holding talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov during the UN General Assembly. The agency reported this RIA Novosti Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said.
“I hope that it will be possible to organize a bilateral meeting,” the diplomat said.
The talks with Lavrov are said to be the first face-to-face meeting between the two ministers. Araghchi was appointed to the post of Iranian Foreign Minister under the government of President Masoud Pezeshkian in August this year.
Earlier, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard commander Hossein Salami said Israel would face a crushing response from the resistance axis. “The terrorist attack in Lebanon was the result of the desperation and successive failures of the Zionist regime, and we will soon witness the complete destruction of this brutal and criminal regime,” he said.
