Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said during his weekly press conference, “The governments of Lebanon and Palestine have the necessary capacity and strength to confront the aggression, and there is no need to deploy auxiliary or volunteer Iranian forces.”
He also stressed that Iran will not let any of Israel’s “criminal acts” go unanswered.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in a statement on Sunday that the killing of the Deputy Commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Abbas Nilforoushan, in Lebanon “will not go unanswered.”
Iranian media quoted Araqchi as saying that Israel “will not calm down” and that what happened in Lebanon will not go unpunished. He warned that the area was in a dangerous situation.
General Nilforoushan died in the Israeli attack that targeted Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in the southern suburb of Beirut.
Tasnim News Agency reported that Araqchi said at the conclusion of his visit to New York: “Certainly this is a great loss, but it will not cause any disruption to the resistance, and just as the martyrdom of the former Secretary General of Hezbollah, Mr. Abbas Mousavi, led to the growth and strength of Hezbollah, I am sure that The killing of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will make Hezbollah stronger and more motivated.”
He added: “After what the Zionist entity did in the region, first in Gaza and then in Lebanon, it certainly has no future in the region. It will not enjoy calm in any way, and the natural result of what they did is accelerating the collapse of the Zionist entity.”
He continued: “In our opinion, America is a partner in this crime and cannot separate itself from this reality in any way. It is certain that the blood of the martyrs of this incident will not remain unanswered and we will certainly stand by Lebanon’s side.”
