This comes a day after the head of the British Internal Intelligence Service (MI5) announced that London had foiled 20 Iranian-backed plans that could have potentially led to deaths in Britain since January 2022.
Ken McCallum, head of the Internal Intelligence Service, accused Iran of being behind “one plot after another” on British soil.
McCallum said the number of investigations into threats to Britain had risen by 48 percent in the past year as Russia and Iran turned to criminals, drug dealers and agents to carry out “dirty work.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman rejected what he described in a statement as repeated accusations over the past two years by the British security official, without referring to him by name.
In the statement, Baghaei accused Britain of hosting “terrorist” groups that systematically promote violence by exploiting the concept of freedom of expression, and called on London to “reconsider its unconstructive policies towards the Iranian people and the West Asian region.”
