The main Iranian negotiator in the talks on the Nuclear Agreement, Ali Bagheri, assured that the Persian country is ready to resume the talks and that this would happen before the end of November. For its part, the European Union, which mediates the process between Washington and Tehran, assured that for the moment “there is nothing to announce.”
Iran was in favor of resuming talks with the main powers that are part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), an agreement that limits the Iranian atomic program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions, mainly imposed by States. United.
“We agreed to start negotiations before the end of November. The exact date will be announced in the course of next week,” Ali Bagheri, Iran’s deputy foreign minister and main negotiator of the talks, said on his Twitter account.
had a very serious & constructive dialogue with @enriquemora_ on the essential elements for successful negotiations.

The announcement came in the middle of the meeting on Wednesday, October 27 in Brussels, between Bagheri and Enrique Mora, deputy head of the External Action Service of the European Union (EU). The meeting sought the reactivation of nuclear negotiations, which had been stopped since June of this year.
For its part, the White House said it was waiting for Tehran’s comments, but that it should also wait for European officials to confirm that Iran is indeed willing to reactivate the talks.
“I would let the negotiators determine when the next round of talks will be, our framework remains compliance by compliance, and we will leave it to the Europeans and our negotiators to determine when the next step would be,” said Jen Psaki, White House press secretary.
During the Donald Trump Administration, the United States withdrew from the Nuclear Agreement in 2018. With the arrival of Joe Biden, this country has indirectly participated in the talks, the ultimate goal of which is for Washington and Tehran to once again comply with what was agreed. However, talks have been on hiatus since June, when Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi took power.
The European Union has not confirmed the reactivation of negotiations
Despite the announcement by Iran’s chief negotiator, the EU did not confirm on Wednesday that there is a consensus to reactivate negotiations on the agreement in Vienna.
“We always announce any upcoming meeting in Vienna when appropriate. There is nothing to announce at this time,” said Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy.
The White House announced that it is still awaiting a diplomatic solution and that the decision will depend on Iran’s actions. Biden is scheduled to travel to Rome later this week to attend the G20 summit, where he is expected to consult with his allies on the Iranian nuclear program on the sidelines of the summit.
Breaches of the agreement, a concern for the United States
The Nuclear Agreement, signed in 2015 between Iran and six great powers (the United States, Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany) stipulated the withdrawal of international sanctions against the Persian country and limited the Iranian atomic program.
After the withdrawal of the United States in 2018, Washington reimposed a new battery of sanctions against Tehran, measures that Iran rejects and on which it has based its condition to rejoin the pact by limiting its nuclear program again.
“The question is whether our partners are genuinely ready to fulfill their commitments, including holding the non-participating (country) (United States) accountable to stop carrying out its evil policies of the past,” Bagheri tweeted.
In reaction to the imposition of Trump sanctions and maintained so far by Biden, Tehran breached the agreement with the reconstruction of enriched uranium reserves. It has refined it to achieve higher material purity and installed advanced centrifuges to speed up its production.
