Iranian government says “small number” of equipment was delivered; Zelensky says he drops dozens a day
The government of Iran admitted on Saturday (6.Nov.2022) to have provided a “small number” from drones to Russia. However, he stated that the equipment was delivered “months ago” from the invasion of Ukraine and which are no longer supplied to the country.
“This noise made by some western countries that Iran supplied missiles and drones to Russia to help with the war in Ukraine, the missile part is completely wrong,” Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian told the news agency Go to.
And he added: “The drone part is true. We provided Russia with a small number of drones months before the war in Ukraine”. This is the first time Tehran has admitted selling war artifacts to Moscow.
The Iranian Shahed-136 drones are known as “kamikaze drones” because they are unmanned flying devices that self-destruct during attack. As they fly low, they do not activate the bomb-proof sirens.
Before Amirabdollahian’s statement, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kiev forces shoot down dozens of Iranian Shahed-136 drones daily.
“If Iran continues to lie about the obvious, it means the world will make even more efforts to investigate terrorist cooperation between the Russian and Iranian regimes.”, said Zelensky in a video published on telegram on Friday (4.nov).
US special envoy for Iran, Robert Malley, agreed with Zelensky. “They transferred dozens [de drones] just this summer and they have military in occupied Ukraine helping Russia to use them“, I told Go to.
Citing Amirabdollahian, the news agency claimed that Iran and Ukraine had agreed to discuss the Russians’ alleged use of Iranian drones, but the Ukrainians did not attend the talks.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, denied. “Tehran must realize that the consequences of complicity in Russian crimes of aggression against Ukraine will be far greater than the benefits of Russian support.”, wrote Nikolenko in the Facebook.
The Kremlin denies using Iranian drones in Ukraine.
