The Nuremberg prosecutor asks why the staff of the Sardinian facility took precedence over German citizens
Why did they take precedence over the Germans who were scrambling to make an appointment to receive the first dose of the Covid vaccine? The Nuremberg prosecutor’s office confirmed the ongoing investigation into the questionable vaccination of employees of the Sardinian resort Forte Village, which took place last month of travel to the Hilton Hotel at Munich airport, when vaccine doses in Germany were still in short supply.
About 120 people who worked for the resort in Sardinia had arrived in Monaco on May 21 on a lightning trip that had not even taken them outside the perimeter of the airport to be vaccinated, and immediately after receiving the dose they left. A week later the questionable vaccination campaign would be repeated in the same hotel at the airport, possibly with the same doctors injecting the doses to the employees of another Italian hotel. The name of the second hotel and the number of people vaccinated were not disclosed.
The news six months ago caused a sensation in the German media, the doubt was above all about the origin of the vaccines. The Bavarian premier Markus Söder had asked for clarification and had expressed himself against the possibility of the birth of a form of “vaccine tourism”. The case was examined by the Central Office for Fighting Fraud and Corruption in the Health System established at the Nuremberg Public Prosecutor’s Office, which is responsible for all of Bavaria.
The investigations, which started in Munich, would have led to North Rhine-Westphalia, where a doctor’s office and a pharmacy were searched, the chief prosecutor Matthias Held has now confirmed to the German press the accusation of misappropriation of vaccines, and of corruption in the health sector, but did not want to release more information on the progress of the investigation and stressed that it is not yet foreseeable when the case will be concluded.
