The International Swimming Federation, headed by Kuwaiti Dr. Hussain Al-Musallam, announced an agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan to set up a special program for the International Swimming Federation for the Education of Swimming for better health for all school students, under the title “Swimming Education for Health and Enjoyment of Life”.
The agreement came in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Ali Bov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Hussain Al-Muslim, President of the International Swimming Federation in Tashkent, which hosted the meetings of the Olympic Council of Asia.
Al-Musallam confirmed that the program will be supported by the Government of Uzbekistan, represented by the Ministry of Education, starting from the kindergarten and primary stages, and that the program will start in September.
The International Swimming Federation will also provide technical support and an action plan for the rehabilitation of physical education teachers to teach swimming in all Uzbek schools.
Al-Muslim had put at the forefront of his priorities after his election as president of the International Federation for the first time to eradicate swimming illiteracy around the world and protect children who drown annually, which is the supreme goal that he seeks to achieve and also develop swimming in countries that suffer from a shortage in this aspect, in addition to benefiting from the experiences of elite countries At the level of water sports.
Al-Musallam was elected president of the International Swimming Federation for the first time last June. He had previously represented Kuwait as a player in swimming competitions, and participated in all Arab and Asian Games and world championships between 1974 and 1976, and joined the Executive Office of the International Federation for the game “FINA” for the first time in 1996. .
