The figure rises to 57% and includes seven minors who are exposed to extreme or high danger
As of today, up to 3,813 women are under police surveillance in the Region for gender-based violence, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of the Interior. Battered women are not, however, the only victims of violence that seems to find no ceiling. Of that total of women who have the protection of the State Security Forces and Corps, 2017 have minors in their care. In this sense, the Ministry records 44 cases in which children are at risk. One of these cases is considered extreme risk and six others high risk. Throughout Spain, Interior considers that 867 minors are at risk for this gender violence.
The latest data from the comprehensive monitoring system for cases of gender violence of the Ministry of the Interior (VioGen System) reveals a certain rebound in this scourge in the Region. This body records in its registry up to a total of 27,852 Murcia as victims of some type of gender violence. Of these, 3,813 cases are considered active, which are those that require police attention. The figure has increased by 6.7% so far this year and is already higher than that recorded in July 2019, before the outbreak of the pandemic. Of the victims, 119 are minors.

Protection measures
Interior divides these more than 3,800 Murcia women who require surveillance as they are threatened by men with whom they have had some relationship according to the level of risk they are in. A large part, 1,571, are integrated into the unappreciated risk group, and are subject to monitoring and, if necessary, protection measures, which are reviewed every three months.
1,641 women are classified as low risk and another 534 suffer a medium risk of being the object of sexist violence. Police protection measures for all of them are increased as the level of risk rises.
The battered women who receive the most attention from security agents are, however, those classified in high and extreme danger levels, in which circumstances such as recidivism and violence by their aggressors concur. 63 women were in July at high risk in the Region and four were at extreme risk, according to statistics published by the Interior. Throughout Spain, the Ministry had thirty women identified and under close surveillance for enduring such a high level of risk of violence.
