The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi, launched an artistic painting initiative representing a picture of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, and His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and these images consist of different coins belonging to 88 countries, and reflect international homogeneity in which cultural harmony, societal harmony and the values of openness and tolerance established by the late Sheikh Zayed and continue to be strengthened by the leadership rationality of the state.
The center also prepared a large artistic painting that reflects the integration taking place in the public transport services and sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the development taking place in this sector. The idea of the paintings stems from the concept of the impact of digital technology on our daily lifestyle and the change in behaviors and payment mechanisms in line with the technical developments that the world is witnessing today. After public transport users used to pay the ticket fare with coins upon boarding the bus by placing it in a box. Paying for that inside the bus. Today, we find that the use of these currencies is a thing of the past, and this is documented by these panels that reflect the change in the behavior of society and the transformation that occurred in the method and means of payment and the trend towards digital payment channels.
Before the suspension of dealing in coins in 2013 as a means of payment in the public transport sector, it was very usual to find in those boxes designated for payment inside the buses a mixture of coins in dirhams and foreign currencies brought by tourists from different countries of the world, which represent different cultures and civilizations, and that In a scene where it seems that these currencies interact with each other to embody the culture of brotherhood and coexistence, and form harmony and harmony between different cultures and civilizations.
These paintings also express love and feelings for the UAE and a deep gratitude and appreciation to the leaders of this country who built it on the foundations of love, tolerance and moderation, and made it a role model among all countries of the world for prosperity and giving, especially since this initiative comes in light of the celebrations of the fiftieth year, as it forms part of the celebrations of the Center Integrated Transport for the Golden Jubilee of the State.
This work was carried out by the artist Osama Sbeitah, one of the Arab artists who is distinguished by his talent in installing such paintings or paintings based on assembling metal pieces.
He achieved one of the records in the Guinness Book of Records in this field. In light of the development taking place in all aspects of life, as the process of development and prosperity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is moving forward in various sectors, especially the transportation sector, which plays an increasing role in facilitating the daily life of the population and shaping the future for future generations.
