If you use Instagram, you’ve certainly already explored the videos of the Reels functionality that the company’s social network Meta offers. And then, a lot of the content shared comes from the popular Chinese platform TikTok.
However, the social network from Mark Zuckerberg’s company wants users to post more original content, and as such, it is now asking people to stop sharing TikTok videos on Instagram Reels. To encourage this change, the platform will give more credit to original publications.
+ “Unlike” button will come to TikTok comments
Instagram is putting in place several changes to focus more and more on the creator. And according to Adam Mosseti, owner of this social network, these changes are intended to “ensure credit goes to those who deserve it“.
In short, the changes boil down to three aspects: product tags are now available to everyone, so you can tag a product in a given post; the user can assign a category like “Photographer” or “Rapper” so that it appears whenever it is tagged in a post; Finally, Instagram will begin to more widely promote original content published on the platform.
According to Mosseti, “if [o usuário] creates something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you’re re-sharing something you found from someone else. We will try to do more to value original content more, especially compared to republished content.
Basically, what Instagram wants is for users to post more original content and ‘clog’ the social network less with material coming from other sources, such as TikTok.
