The Instagram service, which is affiliated with Facebook, announced Monday that it is testing a feature to notify users of service outages or technical problems directly on the photo-sharing application.
This comes days after the social networking giant’s services were disrupted twice in less than a week. An Instagram post stated that the test will take place in the United States, and will last for a few months.
The six-hour outage on October 4 prevented the company’s 3.5 billion users from accessing social media and messaging services, which included WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
Earlier Monday, several users had problems with Instagram, according to user reports on Internet monitoring group Down Detector.
The company also plans to roll out a feature that will help make it easier for people to know if their accounts are at risk of being disabled.
