If, on the one hand, the increase in the minimum wage is good for the worker, at least to replace the losses from inflation, it generates an increase in the contribution of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), for example. And this year, both individual taxpayers and salaried workers (CLT) will have to pay higher rates for Social Security.
Categories such as individual microentrepreneurs (MEI), drivers, day laborers and people who do not work on a paid basis (the optional), in addition to private sector employees, will have readjustments following the increase in the minimum wage – 10.02% at the turn of the year.
+ INSS will pay review of disability aid in May
What has changed with the readjustment of the minimum wage
– Optional low-income taxpayer: enrolled in the Single Registry, this age group retires and the contribution amount will be 5% of the minimum wage (R$ 60.60 per month);
– Optional contributor: unpaid people such as housewives, unemployed and students who also retire by age. Increase in contribution will be 11% of the minimum, equivalent to R$ 133.32 per month;
– Individual Contributor: domestic workers, self-employed who provide services to individuals and who retire by age. Contribution will be 11% of the minimum, equivalent to R$ 133.32 per month.
The INSS allows taxpayers to make a complementary contribution, expanding the possibility of greater benefits in retirement:
– Optional contributor: this bracket can contribute 20% of the minimum wage or up to 20% of the INSS ceiling (equivalent to R$ 242.40 or R$ 1,417.44, respectively). In this case, the person can retire by age or contribution time;
– Individual taxpayer/CPF: for workers who provide services to individuals, the rule here is the same as for the optional taxpayer;
– Individual taxpayer/CNPJ: self-employed workers who provide services to legal entities can contribute up to 20% of the minimum, but with a deduction of 45% of this contribution, since the contracting company deducts 11% of the amount paid to the INSS.
Rules for MEIs
Individual micro-entrepreneurs will have an adjustment to 5% of the minimum wage. The payment guide for this range is made through the Documento de Arrecadação do Simples Nacional (DAS) + R$ 1 of ICMS, if you develop trade and industry, or R$ 5 of ISS, if you are a service provider.
In total, the value can reach R$ 66.60 per month.
