The Cantabrian writer Pilar Ruiz returns to the crime novel with a new installment of the adventures of Inspector Mar Lanza titled The hunter of the sea. The plot explores the darkest and most enigmatic facet of Cantabria.
The writer will present her new work in her hometown, Santander. The hunter of the sea the next Saturday, November 16 at the Gil bookstore. She will be accompanied by Regino Mateo and Yves de Villegas (Roca editorial).

On this occasion, the author has been influenced by her role as a journalist since, as she stated in an interview for eldiariocantabria.es“The novel is inspired by real cases that happened in Cantabria” and clarifies “I have done a lot of research to be able to write this installment.”
The writer believes that The biggest surprise for readers will be “discovering what is happening within the ecclesiastical world.”. He assures that all these mysteries addressed in the book about the nuns, in this case, the cloistered ones, “have many similarities with the life of Mar Lanza, who was in the army.”
As a screenwriter and film director, Pilar Ruiz has stated that she would like to be able to capture Inspector Lanza’s novels in the audiovisual world. “A series would be very good, the beautiful landscapes that we have in Cantabria would be the perfect setting for a television series.” But he clarifies that producing a series “is very expensive” and he sees it as difficult.
“Inspector Lanza deserves a break,” This is what the author has stated. Announcing in this way that for the moment he does not plan to release another book in this saga, although he warns that “this break does not mean that it will be the end of Inspector Lanza’s adventures.”
FUTURE PROJECTS
Pilar Ruiz also wanted to announce that she is currently embarking on a new project which makes him “specially excited”, also set in Cantabria. This work of the writer will have as protagonists to the pasiegas breeding mothers, women who came as wet nurses to the court and dedicated their lives to raising the children of the nobility and the upper bourgeoisie.
