Monterrey.- The Migration’s national institute (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior, in coordination with elements of the Civil Force of the Ministry of Public Security of Nuevo León, rescued 82 migrants in the municipality of Cadereyta of different nationalities transported in the refrigeration box of a truck.
The Representative Office of the INM in Nuevo Leon received a call from the Civil Force reporting the detection of a vehicle at kilometer 34 of the Monterrey-Reynosa highway.
As they approached the unit with Coahuila license plates, they heard knocks and noises inside the box, so the police opened the door and saw several people, including minors.
Federal Immigration Agents arrived at the scene and counted a total of 82 people, of which 38 were minors (15 in a family nucleus and 23 were traveling alone), as well as 44 adults (27 men and 17 women) who could not prove their regular stay. .
The INM staff confirmed the nationality and was able to verify that 40 people came from Honduras, 20 from Guatemala, 11 from El Salvador, five from Ecuador, five from the Dominican Republic and one from Nicaragua.
The migrants were transferred to the Immigration Station of Guadalupe, Nuevo León, to continue with the administrative migration procedure, while the minors and family nuclei remained under guardianship for their custody and protection of the System for the Integral Development of the Family.
