Mexico City.- Between January and May 2024, the National Migration Institute (INM) detected 1,393,683 foreigners traveling through the country in an irregular condition, coming from 177 countries on the five continents.
According to the migration processes, 738,270 adult men traveled alone, while 362,979 were unaccompanied adult women.
Separately, 154,291 adults were located traveling in family units accompanied by 135,151 minors, while 2,992 unaccompanied minors were identified.
The majority of foreigners, 377,401, arrived from Venezuela, while 209,540 people located came from Guatemala, followed by Honduras, with 144,499; Ecuador, 136 thousand 699; Haiti, 107,432, and Colombia, 70,371.
Likewise, 52,636 irregular migrants were identified from El Salvador, 45,364 from Nicaragua, 28,167 from Peru, 27,404 from Cuba, 20,847 from Senegal, 19,922 from Guinea, 16,228 from the Dominican Republic, 13 1,780 from China, 11,058 from Brazil, 9,757 from Mauritania, 8,914 from India and 7,037 from Angola, among others that were not specified.
The unaccompanied adult foreigners were transferred to the different immigration stations, where their immigration administrative procedure was carried out and their situation was resolved in each case according to their particular circumstance.
Family groups and unaccompanied minors, as established by legal regulations, were channeled for care to spaces of the National System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family.
Meanwhile, unaccompanied minors were from Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, El Salvador, Colombia, Haiti and Nicaragua.
