Collecting fresh products offered by traders: this is one of the missions entrusted to the volunteers of the citizen reserve of Cugnaux (Haute-Garonne). Marie Kamp, a resident of the municipality, immediately responded to the municipality’s call, which was looking for volunteers for local actions. “I told them I was there to help. I’m retired and I have time to give. There are people who must really be in need, so I didn’t hesitate.”, she assures.
The city had been thinking for a while about creating its own citizen reserve. The Covid-19 health crisis has accelerated its implementation. The principle is simple: identify volunteer residents and offer them various solidarity missions. The municipality’s initiative was very successful. “We expected to see 10, 20, 30 people, today we have 80”, says Agapito Silveira, deputy mayor of Cugnaux.
